I was just about to message a user for removing clearly sun-shaped tattoos from the sun tattoo tag only to realize that isn't actually what the tag is for. I had already reverted all their edits, but the tag is so unintuitively named I figured that needed to change. Sorry for doubting you @pipirupirupirupipirupi!

IRL these are called tan_tattoos or sunburn_tattoos so I figured we could move the posts over to one of those names and leave in the characters with actual sun_tattoos in the tag, if this goes through I'll move the wiki and make a new one for sun_tattoo.

i think including "tattoo" in the tag name will be misleading and confusing. something like suntan_art might be more appropriate

Perhaps, it definitely is when the name is just shapename_tattoo, but the fact that that is the actual name of the practice in real life makes me think there won't be too much confusion. Searching "Suntan Art" only brings up an art gallery and no examples of the practice.

given we are changing the definition rather significantly, perhaps we should rename sun_tattoo to sun-shaped tattoo?

Tanlines implies tan, so your argument is backwards. As for whether "sun tattoos"/"tan tattooos" count as tanlines or not, I'm not sure. Technically they do, but I don't think people searching for the tanlines tag would particularly care about them...
