film poster parody

Posted under Tags

This should just be moved to the existing movie poster tag, which is already for movie poster parodies. Technically it also includes things drawn in the style of a movie poster but not parodying any specific movie, but virtually all of it is parodies.

Updated

I would imagine that another line that could go into that BUR is updating poster parody to movie poster, but then that begs the question - if movie poster is also intended for parodies and not just posts that are styled as posters, then is the tag doing too much lifting? What separates poster parody from just being movie poster + parody? Is there an implication that could be had instead, where poster parodies are also movie posters? There is also poster (medium). What would describe post #8468052? Is post #7537245 a parody or is it just a movie poster-styled post?

Basically we have:

  • poster (medium): For images parodying real posters, images drawn in the style of fake posters, and scans of actual posters from magazines and things.
  • movie poster: As above, but only for movie posters.
  • poster parody: Images parodying real posters (including movie posters, famous propaganda posters, etc).

We could try to split this up by having movie poster parody (parodies of real movie posters), fake movie poster (things drawn in the style of a movie poster, but not parodying any specific movie), and movie poster scan (scans of real movie posters). But I think this would be prone to confusion, and nearly all of movie poster is movie poster parodies anyway. It's easier to put everything under movie poster and either add parody (for parodies) or scan (for real movie posters) as appropriate.

What separates poster parody from just being movie poster + parody?

It's just poster (medium) + parody because it includes non-movie posters. It's better off being deprecated, otherwise we have to figure out which things under poster (medium) are parodies and which aren't.

The first is poster (medium) and the second is movie poster. This is exactly the problem - if movie poster and poster parody are separate things, and you don't recognize the parody, then you don't know which tag to use. It's easier to just tag movie poster then add parody + movie name if you know it's a parody of a specific movie.
