A question about searching for sources

Posted under Bugs & Features

I am using translation software to communicate, so my expression may be a little inaccurate.

When I search for the tag yukiale, this picture appearspost #8782645
Its source contains pixiv.
When I search using yukiale -source:*pixiv*, this image disappears, but the remaining images still contain pixiv, such as this onepost #8710919
Is this a bug or am I searching incorrectly?

if i recall correctly, pixiv is a special case in how its sources are stored internally. the actual search you want is -source:https://i.pximg.net/. (or without the minus to show all posts from pixiv).

Not just Pixiv; there are several sites that have normalisation support (such as Patreon and Fanbox), so the source upon editing the post is a CDN link but on the post page itself it will show the link you'd normally find in the address bar. pximg is the correct way to source Pixiv posts and they will be normalised to an /artworks/ link.

Pixiv does have first-class search operator support, so pixiv:107336766 shows the post in question. However, since the source was not correctly added, yes adding -source:*pixiv* would hide the image because that's what's actually in the source bar.

I understand a little bit, thank you. It means that when I need to search for the source, I should use the string in the CDN link. I don't have professional network knowledge. How can I get the CDN link from a post page link?

I mean I already know that when I search for pixiv sources I should use pximg. But I don't know how to search other sites, or is this a matter of experience?

Edit the post, then copy the link in the "source" field. You can also use the » symbol right next to the source URL to jump towards whatever the source field says, be it direct image link or otherwise.
