When it's just a few months or years, it doesn't matter which tag is aliased away as long as it's to the artist's preferred name. Where people start taking issue is if the tag history is more than just a few years apart and has a lot of artist history. That meaning, don't alias a 2009 tag with 2 pages of artist changes to one created in 2023 that has only a single link.
