Didn't know about that topic. But we do have high side ponytail and short sidetail already. We even have low side ponytail though still no wiki.
Updated
This tag is for plain ponytails at the back of the head. Do not use this tag for side ponytails or braided ponytails.
I'm wondering if we should update wikis of high, low and short ponytails so it states this distintion too. Since it looks like we committed to the use of side ponytails tags.
This is just reminding me of the ambiguity half updo/ponytail, one side up/side ponytail, two side up/twintails can have (topic #13497), as the "do not tag ponytail/twintails if there is still hair hanging loosely" rule only works if that is presented unambiguously in the art itself, especially with folks using the latter terms to refer to the former in casual conversation, resulting in significant amounts of overlap between the tags in question (visible in the case of something like short twintails, which is effectively edging between two side up and twintails).
People have been proposing this for years, but we couldn't do it because side ponytail got in the way. Now that we finally have tags for high/low/short sidetails, we can do it.
These searches will need some gardening though to clean out any side ponytails incorrectly tagged as ponytails:
