Convert "Googling Yourself" pool into the tag "Egosearching"

The concept of someone searching their own name on the internet as covered in Googling Yourself pool is a clearly defined practice that should have been its own tag rather than a pool. So I think the pool should be converted into a tag "egosearching" and make the name of the pool an alias. Also adding a bunch of alternate name of the act as an alias.

Why not egosurfing, just like the Wikipedia page? Not because of that, but at least in my experience egosurfing is the more common term (and Wikipedia using that seems to back it up).

OP is right that ego<something> is the commonly accepted name for it, there's no reason for us to be stubborn to keep this odd name.

Because imo having "searching" in the tag name would be enough to tell what the tag is about.

Egosearching also seems to be the pixiv tag fwiw.

"egosurfing" had about 55,300 results on Google vs "egosearching" which only had about 4,300 results. This is likely reflected with the anime Oshi no ko's translation using the term "egosurfing" as well in both the name of the episode and when talked about within the episode involving it. The Japanese title of the same episode is エゴサーチ (Ego Sāchi ie egosearching).

Given this, "egosurfing" appears to be the term used more in English so I would support its use over "egosearching."

Side note: spellcheck is flagging "egosearching" as a misspelled word, but isn't for "egosurfing."

Egosurfing is far more common in English, despite the Japanese egosa/egosaachi coming from egosearching (ergo not wasei eigo), so I support egosurfing. An alias from egosearching to egosurfing could be added, but it'd be the only thing that appears in autocomplete anyway.

As a prescriptive nitpick, I also don't like the current pool name because "Googling" is considered incorrect compared to something more verbose, like "Google searching" or "searching with Google" (or something engine-agnostic).

That's only a nitpick Google makes because they don't want the trademark on the word "Google" to genericize like aspirin, which thus makes the use of "Google" incorrect in their eyes. That is to say that it's a pointless thing to bring up, especially when the pool is going to get nuked once the tag gets made anyway, and the use of "Google" as a verb has decreased in public use anyway in favor of searching as apps become the preferred means of accessing info and thus you'd be more likely to be searching within the app itself rather than only searching the open web with a specific search engine in mind; you can't "Google" yourself on Twitter, you egosurf there.

Due to the arguments above I prefer the first one.
However I think the aliases are a bit overkill. Aliasing egosurfing and egogoogling is not useful, because egosearching will appear in an ego* search (heh)
