The "anklehighs" guy is at it again (with "short socks")

Posted under General

user #1254630, the user who created "anklehighs" (forum #331043), has chosen a new tag to misuse. They've applied short socks to a lot of posts that don't exactly fit the tag name.

This tag has no wiki page so I'm not sure what exactly it's meant to be for, but its certainly not for things that already fall under ankle socks. It also isn't on the reference chart cited in other sock-related wiki pages. Its current usage seems to fall under existing tags anyways so I'm not sure what purpose it serves. It's not an entirely new tag so I'm hesitant to request an alias right away without looking into it more, but this behavior is becoming a pattern.

BUR #35987 is pending approval.

create alias short_socks -> ankle_socks

Honestly, at this point I'd just DM the user a warning, or even give them a neutral or negative feedback depending on how irritated you are. I'm not annoyed enough to do either though...But I will go ahead and try to alias this to ankle socks, as this person clearly seems allergic to that fucking tag for some reason.

A negative is too harsh to start with for something like this, especially if the user wasn’t directly contacted. Irritation isn’t a good reason to start with a negative when a neutral would suffice. Even before giving neutrals, some attempt must be made to contact them and explain exactly what they’re doing wrong. They might not even realize the tag exists or that we’re trying to minimize redundant tags.

Honestly, I felt a DM would probably be the most reasonable action. Though for the record, they are actively removing ankle socks and replacing them with these short socks tag, so I'm not entirely sure how much of this is from a place of ignorance. You are right though.

They were tagged in https://danbooru.donmai.us/forum_posts/331043 and as you said are actively removing the tag, so they definitely know it exists. What it looks like to me is someone that doesn't like that we named our tags in a somewhat counterintuitive way from everyday speech (calling crew socks ankle socks and I think not even having a tag for actual ankle socks, even though the sock wikis link to a post that explicitly points that out as wrong).

Usually when someone like that pops up, they'll just keep doing it until they get banned because as far as they care we're wrong and they're fixing it.

I gave Nantomo a 3-day ban. Maybe this will finally get their attention.

Someone should look through all their edits, though I doubt any of them are good when it's done at a blistering rate of 60 edits per hour.

I undid their edits on "short socks", though I need to recheck incase i did any errors.
