What's the diffrence between Miezaru and Danbooru

Posted under General

Danbooru is the name of the software and the original name of the site (danbooru.donmai.us). When Danbooru closed down, it reopened under miezaru.donmai.us on a more private basis. At some point after re-opening the Miezaru site to the public the original Danbooru domain was reactivated. Both currently point to the same place so it doesn't really matter which you use.

Check the forums on both. Unless you've posted the same comment on both then they're pointing at the same place.

They both resolve to the same IP, and while they could still be on different virtual hosts on the same server which replicate the exact same data there would be little point.

I know it's the same IP and all, but what I've noticed is that every time a user without an invite posts a link (and doesn't use post # syntax), it's a danbooru link. If they're privileged, it's a miezaru link. It could be a coincidence though?

So I thought maybe privileged users logged on through miezaru and unprivileged through danbooru?

That's because the cookies are independent. You can be logged into one domain, and access the other as guest.

I use the RSS feeds heavily for certain artists and series. These would always take me to my logged in account like normal, but today, going to some of the images through the RSS feed is taking me to danbooru.donmai, which I'm not logged into (and can't as I'm logged into miezaru and there's that cookie issue.).

Glitch, intentional, workaround, etc?

Most of the Nanoha images seem to do it, but a bunch of Touhou ones I opened all came up normally.

The reason is your login information is stored in a cookie. Your browser stores cookies depending on the domain name rather than IP. When you switch from one domain to the other you use a different cookie, even though it's the same site.

Hmm I dunno, I still get access denied whenever I try to sign into danbooru.

At any rate, the RSS feeds seem to no longer be doing whatever it was they were doing, so it's not a huge deal.
