I don't know about y'all, but to me, favoriting a post while, at the same time, not liking it seems kinda illogical.

So when one favorites a post, the post is also automatically upvoted. But sometimes I see posts with absolutely no downvotes and yet the scores are still lower than the favorite counts, which means one can remove one's upvote even after favoriting a post.
This doesn't make sense to me. Especially when the word "favorite" is generally considered a stronger form of "like". Or maybe "favorite" and "bookmark" are synonyms (I don't think so because the symbol of post favoriting is a heart and not a bookmark).

There's also the phenomenon i've observed of this applying mostly to old posts, i've never removed an upvote from a post i've favorited but i've found some of my earliest favorites still had my upvote removed at some point for some reason

In addition to votes being Gold+ for many years, there was also an old quirk of the site where your upvotes would eventually "expire" and the site would no longer remember it was your upvote, meaning you could then upvote the same post again. post #214, for instance, has 15 upvotes, but only 11 of them show up when you hover over the score. If you were already Gold+ at the time, then I'm pretty sure your old upvotes weren't removed, but simply detached from your account.

back then only gold+ users could vote
it seems to have been changed in late 2021

Completely forgot this had been a thing, honestly (Was still mostly lurking at that time).
Thanks for the reminder.

So there was some expire quirk about upvotes? That's the first idea that came to my mind but i quietly dismissed it because i found it unlikely. I was still a normal blue user at that time though

I do the opposite of upvoting posts but not faving them to keep track of posts that I haven't saved to my device (Usually when I'm using a different device or too busy). Then once saved, I add the fave. I can imagine other people doing the opposite of faving but not upvoting for this or the other reasons stated above.
