Pointless Pools

Posted under General

I just noticed that a bunch of gluttony-related pools were removed for some reason. I tried to see if there was a discussion here (or elsewhere in the forum for that matter) to no avail. Anyone know why? It definitely wasn't a "pointless" pool, given how many posts populated each of them, at least for me.

Remove because we have glutton

I don't remember seeing that forum post... Wouldn't there have been a notice the same way tags get notices when someone is discussing change? I would've voted not in favor of nuking the pools (perhaps as a neutral vote), if only because they would've been fine as it was to me. "If it ain't broke don't fix it", after all.

The problem with this idea is that, without the pool, it becomes very difficult to search for game CGs as traditionally defined. Search official art of any character from this game and you will be slapped with all kinds of card art first and foremost, and good luck sifting through if that's not what you're after.

What do you mean "arbitrary exclusions"? Magia Record has a lot of different types of in-game images that all can fall under game CG - memoria, card art, backgrounds, Witch sprites, doppel sprites, story CGs. This pool is only for the last one. How is it pointless to have a pool for this when it'd be impossible to search for them specifically otherwise?

I think this is something that would be better handled with a tag specifically for story CGs rather than a pool. There are other games that have the same issue, so it would be nice to have something that could be used for all of them.

I’m also skeptical of those 1komas being included in the pool. I get that they’re technically being used as story CGs in-game, but they still stick out quite a bit. I feel like it might be better for them to have their own pool.

If the order is important, then a series pool is justified. The problem is that the pool description does not say anything about this. The current description makes it sound like a random collection of in-game artwork. Nothing about it implies there’s any order to them. And not all users will understand what is meant by “traditional game CGs.” If these are scenes from the story, the pool description should make it clear. If they need to be in a certain order and it’s not obvious how to order them, then that should also be explained.

Whether this pool stays or goes, a tag would still be useful for distinguishing story art from other game cg posts.
