Tag usage for Good_Breasts_Day (and related)

Posted under Tags

Hey folks
As you may know, Good_Breasts_Day (not to be confused with Breasts_Day) happened on November 08, one of many Date_Puns that artists are inspired by.

Brought up in the server with Zap and a thread was suggested so here we are.

What are we supposed to do with these tags, exactly?
Do we just tag anything that has the #いいおっぱいの日 hashtag in the commentary?
Do we tag -only- pictures that make it literally explicit in the art itself (dialogue about it being good breasts day for example, or maybe the title somewhere next to the character?

The latter is more in-line with tag what you see: if you look at an average pic of a girl with large tits, there's no reason to necessarily believe it has anything to do with good breasts day.

The former is more search/user-friendly, in the sense that if you don't have the tag, looking for pics associated with the date/holiday is much less intuitive: you'd have to look for date posted or searching for the commentary specifically (and given how we tend not to translate hashtag-only_commentary, you can't even write it out with regular characters/alphabet).

I was considering just gardening it to the latter protocol per Zap's suggestion but I realized that like of the first 5 pages of results we'd be left with around 5 pictures, which speaks imo to a more fundamental problem.

Also, I bring this up now since good breasts day just happened, but there are a host of other days with a similar issue, so might as well try and decide what to do about them now too.

Going with the former is maybe closer to the criteria for a pool, but I can imagine that would be hard to enforce/maintain especially since the auto-translate feature works so nicely for tagged posts like this. I think it's fine to go with the former just because these date puns are so common and there's a utility in seeing what various artists have done for celebration. So like a quasi-collection pool but taking advantage of the translate feature? This might be nonsense.

We do have other tags that don't really strictly apply to "tag based on what you see", such as one-hour_drawing_challenge (and other related challenges). Do we make those into pools too?

I think these tags are fine as is honestly and I like having them around even if they're not 100% visual. It's nice to look at cat day and see all the art created for Cat Day, and it adds contextual information.

Glad to see there's support for them. I too think it's nice being able to browse for them specifically.

... would we want to consider changing them from general to meta type?

My issue with that idea is that some images, like say post #8417124, put the one-hour drawing challenge hashtag (often tailored to the copyright) on the image itself (whereas meta tags tend to convey information that aren't visually identifiable, like commission. I have no trouble believing the same is probably true of some images in good breasts day, even though I do not mind the idea in theory. If you were to ask me, in a vaccum, what to do, I'd say "Why not make a fifth tag type for these?". But that'd never fly here, so I suppose keep as general it is.

The thought crossed my mind as well, but I feel like there's enough (i.e. non-zero) instances of it being referenced in the art itself (as mentioned in the original post) that similarly to art program in frame or art tools in frame it wouldn't make sense to just promote them all to meta. Maybe the date pun tag could be meta, but then that could lead to the bad form of potentially implying general tags to a meta tag. lowkey sniped
