Criteria for New Copyright Tag on Artist-Created Content

Posted under Tags

Hallu! So I recently posted up post #8022854 , which has been bringing me all sorts of headaches ahaha

To the point of this post, the artist, shawn_ger_lin, appears to be drawing their own artistic world which they dubbed "Dice Clan." The theme of which appears to be six-armed women that use or allude to six-sided dice. Pretty much all of their art in their tag is Dice Clan. Now, were it just one or two I don't see this as too big of a deal, but they also seem quite busy with commissions and you can find quite a lot of art of this concept.

So that brings me to the specificity of creating a new copyright when it comes to something that an artist creates. monster_girl_encyclopedia comes to mind, as that wasn't based on a specific copyright but a specific artist's world and concept.

When does an artist's own artistic world get large enough or pervasive enough that it deserves it's own copyright?

If it starts getting a decent amount of fan art from other artists, that's usually when it's worth giving it a copyright tag, because that means it's recognizable, something people would search for, and you can't just use the creator's artist tag or a pool to find it all.

It also needs to have an actually established setting. All I'm seeing is a bunch of character designs, nothing about a world or story.

Monster girl encyclopedia meets these criteria. For an example of similar situation to this one, cougar_(cougar1404) had a Cut Cat copytag that got nuked because it was just a collection of character designs and no one was making fan art of the characters.

If shawn ger lin is the only one drawing it, and it's almost the only thing in their tag, then a copytag would be redundant.

That makes sense. I think the established world requirement is important, since I had to really parse out whether Dice Clan was some sort of mobile game or, as you said, a series of character designs.
