Nuking hyperspecific Genshin Impact weapon tags

Posted under Tags

I'm not sure this BUR is as valid as the linked one. A lot of these aren't character specific weapons, and unlike the 40k tags most of these characters are so large in comparison to the weapons that there's no reliable way to search for the weapons themselves.

As one example, mistsplitter reforged features Keqing in a decent percentage of its posts despite usually being on rate up with Kamisato Ayaka, who makes up the majority of its posts, even has posts featuring Raiden Shogun despite her having her own signature sword, and a search like keqing_(genshin_impact) sword returns a bunch of other identifiable Genshin swords besides the specific one I'm using as an example.

The 40k weapons were deemed nukable because of extremely niche usage, largely not being seen without the characters they belong to, characters which have extremely small post counts. Actually finding mistsplitter reforged without its own tag would be totally impractical.

That's still the case for the warhammer bur. That one was based on the mistaken belief some new user who wrote wikis made the tags (they didn't) and included tags with similar issues.

Both these burs are bad. If a fandom regularly gets posted and has established tags for gear that shows up numerous times nuking it makes no sense. The only difference is this one has higher posts counts and then we get into the debate of "how many posts should a tag have before it shouldn't be nuked" and what about a weapon that is rare within that franchise etc, etc.

That's not the reason it was made and certainly not the reason it was approved. It doesn't matter why it was created.

Well, you can start by having more than a single page of results.

I feel like you're not getting that NNT nuked them because the characters don't have enough posts, not because the weapons aren't represented well enough. If "character plus generic weapon tag" returns only one or two pages of results, then there's barely any challenge in finding what you're looking for.

The Genshin weapons are absolutely dwarfed by the characters, you can't easily find the weapons, there's a ton of different ones, and they're shared among the characters in fan art because few of them belong to a specific character, and even some of the ones that do still get paired with other characters. Until you, as NNT put it, "upload enough posts that it becomes a problem", the 40k tags don't help you find anything that would take more than a few minutes even with a basic two tag search any user could do. There isn't a problem the tags you want actually solve. They just exist to exist, and that's not why we make tags.
