Shouldn't this "nagao_kagetora_(fate) -> uesugi_kenshin_(fate)" be the other way around?

I mean isn't they are basically the same character? And we are prioritizing the main true name (Kenshin) over young names (Kagetora) unless they are getting a special treatment like Ushi or Eli.
I think they should go based on what the playable character's name is, no? If the unit is called Nagao Kagetora in game, then I agree it should be the other way around. But this one is a bit of a weird case where the playable name isn't the "main" name of the historical figure...

If it was a historically accurate then yes. Unfortunately in Fate they are still different characters and main true name doesn't apply here. Uesufi Kenshin the servant is a different person than Uesugi Kenshin in history. Nagao came first and Kenshin came second both as a variant and in lore. They may be "basically the same" but they're still different servants.
