actually a serious question

For blue-haired characters I can do an ai:blue_hair search, and if there's a character who I only remember by their appearance then I'm going to try using Google first to find out their name or ask ChatGPT, Danbooru wouldn't be my first or second option for that.

Not all character traits can be searched with an AI search. For example, ai:jirai_kei doesn't work, that's a tag I frequently search for without particularly caring about what the artist, characters or copyright of each image is. Not to mention that the AI isn't unfalliable. It will frequently miss things and mistake things for other things. If it was perfect then tagging wouldn't be a requirement at all. Also not all characters can be easily found with google or GPT. OCs or characters from smaller or newer franchises for example.

And I'm pretty sure the AI searches that do work are able to because of the posts that were already tagged.

Correct, it was trained a few years ago on existing (tagged) posts. This means newer tags (we're talking years old, not weeks old) are completely excluded, and if there's any hope to improve it by retraining the newer posts should be adequately tagged too.

Also: has this "argument" seriously devolved into "well we can just as well use AI tags right?".....

Yes, yes it has.
So, let's stop now before diing further into madness.

Of course no one here is even trying to understand the issues I've listed in my previous posts, but it's not like I expected anything different. Anyway, if anyone here has alternatives to Danbooru with the same functionality and less strict tagging requirements like I've described in my initial post, I'm still taking suggestions.

That is just not true :CatCry:

It feels like whatever is suggested you aren't going to entertain so there's no point in continuing the conversation.

That's because none of your suggestions satisfy the requirements I've listed in my initial post, like you yourself acknowledged?

They were totally addressed, though. Every issue you raised was responded to. You just don't like the answers.

I take more offense to the "Nobody is even trying to help/understand" statements. People are trying to help the fact remains the there isn't a site that fulfill all your requirements, including danbooru.

The fact that we have millions of uppable untagged images already on the site in the form of media assets that are in practice completely unfindable, and are prone to losing commentary and possibly even the artist who made the images? No one has addressed this at all.

And that's because we have to tag images?

We're getting sidetracked. This has nothing to do with the opening post anymore.

Well it's not going to be addressed by not tagging images so that they're virtually invisible. You may think Artist, Copyright, and Character are sufficient but no one wants to drudge through hundreds or even thousands of images looking for things because we decided flooding the site with untagged art was a good idea.

The kind of site you're looking for doesn't exist because no one wants an image gallery where you can't actually find anything. Even people only looking for art of characters they're already familiar with want other tags to refine their searches to manageable sizes.

That's literally not true when there are already the aforementioned Zerochan, Yande.re and others, they're just inconvenient to upload to and don't save stuff like commentary.

A main source of artist galleries is actually e-hentai, despite the name you can upload non-h collections. The problem is that they only allow images and don't have a way to include other metadata, though you can include other files as part of torrents. Also they aren't indexed by IQDB but I think saucenao does, and they also have their own image search.

Also I specifically didn't exclude uploading them here if the images meet the primary criteria for the site, but without knowing which artist nobody can say if they're likely to be approved.

20 tags is what's recommanded from what I know, though personally I am always trying to aim for at least 30 tags, I do not like when the stuff I post is undertagged or when some important details aren't tagged, even though it can happen sometimes I don't reach the 30 tags when it's images with very few details.
