Should be rendered useless. This tag has been arbitrarily spammed on images with solid-coloured or gradient backgrounds of lighter shades. While there are already clearer alternatives to this, such as pink background, etc..
Even worse, on images that do not even depict paler colourations, such as post #3832282 and post #3777575.
