Armored clothing implications

Posted under Tags

BUR #26894 has been rejected.

create implication armored_boots -> armor
create implication armored_corset -> armor
create implication armored_corset -> corset
create implication armored_dress -> dress
create implication armored_legwear -> armor
create implication armored_leotard -> armor
create implication armored_skirt -> armor
create implication armored_bodysuit -> bodysuit

These are an armored variant of existing clothing that doesn't have an implication to their respective main tags yet. I did not include implications for armored leotard -> leotard because it is already covered in forum #281623.

Although not among these, what's the difference between armored gloves, metal gloves, and gauntlets?

I assumed the tag armored gloves and metal gloves was meant to be used for a gloves that were entirely made out of metal, but that would still making them a gauntlet.

Edit: to quote Damian from Discord;

I think the only practical solution is tag gardening. Garden the mechanical arms and hands, and the armored gloves and gauntlets, out of metal gloves (and leave the remainder to be decided in the thread). On armored gloves relative to gauntlets, we have to remember that gauntlet doesn't just refer to armored gloves, but then we have to consider how to practically distinguish the two in terms of tagging, because unless they are armor nerds, they aren't going to render gauntlets properly.

Also, what's the difference between bracer, arm guards and wrist guards?

I think the ones I mentioned above could be consolidated into one, and the types of armored gloves could also be consolidated because as far as I can see they're all being used interchangeably.

Supposedly, arm guards was meant to encompasses any type of armor covering the arm. Tho bracer and wrist guards are much harder to distinguish.

After some discussion on Discord, I was thinking about making a BUR implicating these tags under the "arm guards" tag, tho given the sheer amount of arm guard types, I think that would need a separate threads to cover it.

There are many armored skirt here that the armor parts only protect the sides, but not the crotch. (post #7277064 post #6140641 post #4649246 post #6796091 post #6297159)
This property should be closer to overskirt and different from general skirt.
So I think armored skirt -> skirt may not be suitable.

All of those examples are faulds.

I think many of these tags are stand-ins for similar tags where people sinply don't know the specific word. Armored Dress is a ton of actual, taggable armor suits on someone who happens to be wearing a dress underneath, like post #7566531 (which has none of the proper armor tags on it).

I dislike the "vocab test" tagging that occurs with armor and weapons, but taking a look at these tags makes me think they're all crutches that need serious gardening and a possible re-think of what exactly they are.
