Candeloro's Familiars Do In Fact Have A Name

Posted under Tags

Yes, this article does in fact talk about them. The Kyoko familiar is called "Akairo-san" and the Madoka familiar is called "Momoiro-san". I didn't think that would be a problem, since familiars of the same name but have variation like Adelbert tend to have their chartags used for both forms simultaneously, and it seems the same is true of Du Polignac (especially since, barring a few old comics), they tend to be depicted together alongside Candeloro. I think the main hang-up is that they're more...let's go with humanoid than is typical of familiars from this series (not to mention resemble Sakura Kyoko and Kaname Madoka).

Although if we wanna break that here, I guess we can create tags like "Akairo-san" and "Momoiro-san" and imply them to "Du Polignac". Not sure who'd use the more specific tags for them, honestly, but I just came here to fix the name.

It's more that these characters could appear by themselves in fanart, and there's no reason for them to share a chartag when they look different and could be tagged individually.

I see. Should I go ahead and create and populate tags for the separate variants and request implication then?

There are, sorta. There's a confirmed Sayaka-like variant in The Different Story manga, as well as the possibility of Homura (both with glasses and without) and Hitomi-like ones shown off at the Madogatari event. However, none of which are actually on Danbooru as of speaking. An umbrella might be useful if they ever pop-up (or even just as speculation as artists tend to).

My main thought with the umbrella is that, since we pretty much only see those two, I'm not sure if that is enough to justify the umbrella. The argument I'd like to make is that they are fundamentally variations on the same character (as they are), but I'm getting the feeling that argument isn't going to hold water here, especially considering its small size. I don't wanna create a pad tag, after all, but at the same time I find it weird to have them not umbrellaed either.

if they're always together, then searching for just one of them will be equivalent to having an umbrella tag, which becomes redundant. At the same time, having two tags instead of one allows to search for pics containing only one of these characters.

I ended up splitting the old tag into Du Polignac (Akairo-san) and Du Polignac (Momoiro-san), with the exception of some hard to make out comic panels and some old flash games in Japanese (and I don't really know how to check which appear in those due to that language barrier). While I understand the argument against umbrellaing it, the fact that there exists situations in which you can't tell them apart is...something.

In any case, if anyone wants to id them in the old flash games, please do.
