sealed_eye -melina_(elden_ring) has no results, so yeah. At first I thought it was going to be interesting results like ofuda or something, but it's all canon tagging.
could this somehow be linked to stitched eye since they seem to be the same idea, just slightly different appearance? havent played elden ring for the explanation

That's a tattoo/mark/scar above Melina's eye. There are many ideas we can draw from the environmental storytelling and interesting speculations on the web about it, but there's no actual explanation as usual. If it's considered a spoiler - she opens her eye just once throughout the entire game, in the cutscene of one of the endings. I agree with aliasing the tags later though.
This comes from a single user inventing a bunch of new tags just for Melina: sealed eye, gold brooch, silver brooch, bronze brooch, periannular brooch, circular brooch, cloak pin.

These brooch tags could have a thread all on their own. Having something be tagged as bronze makes things muddy as bronze doesn't have a concrete color. Periannular brooch and circular brooch both basically mean the same thing, ring brooch. And as for cloak pin, there could be a use for that, but it would probably be mostly found on Melina posts.
What do we do with those tags? Nuke them all?

Given that these are hyper-specific tag of a single character without any distinctive features, I suggest we should nuke them all, and perhaps at least give a warning for whoever made these bloat tags.

nuke gold_brooch
nuke silver_brooch
nuke bronze_brooch
nuke periannular_brooch
nuke circular_brooch
nuke cloak_pin
Might as well get these out of the way. If the user recreates them, they'll get a DM.

Now wait a minute.
First of all summoning @silver_threads because it's only fair they can actually see what's going on.
"Cloak pin" is a real and legit thing. I too, fell down the Wikipedia rabbit hole of trying to fiqure out what the hell these things were called for capes in post #6852782 as they don't have a single concrete name as there were different versions of brooches throughout history. I wound up getting "cape_clasps" from sites selling medieval larp accessories and I think one archaeological site. Though "cape clasps" one is about the version connected via chain, not a single brooch.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibula_(brooch)
Cloak pins, from what I can gather are the "primitive" circular ones with a single pin, these are also called periannular brooches meaning near complete circle or something akin to that (I think me and silver threads may have found the same Wikipedia articles). They were quite common historically. We should definitely have a tag for that, they're visually distinct. Even if it's primarily this character, if it's accurate and distinct then so what? Aren't most of "shark costume" posts just one vtuber?
If anything I say keep periannular_brooch for this primitive one as it could be used on more than just cloaks and cape clasps for the chain version.

Sorry if I mess up the formatting here.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_brooch
"Celtic brooch" and "periannular brooch" are terms that refer to a distinct form of semicircle-shaped brooch typically used to fasten cloaks. I went with "periannular brooch" over "Celtic brooch" because the latter refers to a specific historical culture that may not translate to fictional settings. These brooches were common among the ancient Celts. That's influenced a lot of fantasy-themed art. This tag can definitely apply to more than one character.
A "cloak pin" is any ornament designed to fasten a cloak. I've also seen the term "cloak clasp" used. This can include Celtic brooches, but also unique brooch shapes common in fantasy art like leaves, animal heads, etc.
One eye closed implies an eye temporarily shut. Stitched eye seems to be for eyes sewn shut. Missing eye seems to be for empty sockets. I created "sealed eye" for cases where an eyeball that is still present while the eyelid is fixed shut by some means. As pointed out higher up Melina's left eye remains shut except in a special ending, so it's clear there's still an eye under the lid. It's not clear why her left eye is always shut. One theory is that the tattoo over it is a curse. "Sealed" seems broad enough to cover both voluntary and involuntary closure.
Most of the art in the tags was of this character because I mainly focus on uploading Elden Ring art. I also systematically went through Melina's tag and added the new tags to everything. I didn't want to be lazy and only tag art I'd uploaded myself. I don't really get the "hyperspecific" criticism when there's tags like star hair ornament and heart hair ornament. These tags can definitely have utility for other characters.

I should've elaborated the reason for the request. One eye closed has always been for an eye closed for any reason. Even if an eye resembling a closed eye was canonically sealed, which in Melina's case is just fan speculation, it'd be the same as one eye closed. It'd make sense to keep the tag if it was for something visually different.
What a bad BUR, there is no reason that e.g. post #5272916 isn't tagged with gold_brooch, jewelry and celtic_brooch. Just because a single person made all the tagging for 1 character, it shouldn't be a reason to nuke it.

Celtic brooch has never been a tag nor is that design exclusive to Celtic culture. "Peniannular", which is a misspelled version of "penannular", could have use if you could find any example that is not the single character. Tags that are 100% one a single character and 100% tagged by a single person are a pet tag and aren't needed. We do this all the time with vtuber uploaders being way too zealous about "she's not a wolf she's a coyote! you can tell because I read her bio!!1!!!"
This was a nuke, not a deprecation or alias. These tags could be remade if you showed sufficient evidence that it would be anything other than a search for one character.

If you check melina_(elden_ring), you'll see that most of her pictures don't have a visible celtic_brooch. The results for melina_(elden_ring) and (a hypothetical) celtic_brooch differ significantly. In theory because these are two vastly different concepts, and in practice too.
I checked a lot of random images, and I couldn't find other characters with this type of brooch, but I don't see why is that necessary, if I want to see anime girls with celtic brooch I wouldn't be too mad if it is only melina (or cosplays of her), as long as she has celtic brooch on every picture.
Also people will add other pictures in time, if other examples exist.
You seem to not understand what tags are for. Tags are for searching, not categorization. If a tag is not useful in filtering down a search then it's completely redundant.
Until other characters appear using the same type of brooch, a tag like this is equivalent to a character search, and entirely unnecessary.
