The Vtuber Alternate Costume Tagging Proposal

Posted under Tags

Before going forward with Hinano's costumes, can we drop the _(vtuber) from her name?
tachibana_hinano_(vtuber)
She's the main tachibana_hinano on the site, with tachibana_hinano_(muku), already having a suffix.
Also, looking up the name on any search engine, either in romanji, or as 橘ひなの, gives the vtuber as 19-20/20 top results.

I believe we are currently waiting for holoCloset merch to give them names, for now we're leaving them as is
(but if it were me I would call them "Kronii_(military)" and "Baelz_(chuuni)")

We aren't waiting for holoCloset merch names - as much as we would like them to release more frequently, we cannot rely on official sources at all times because, fundamentally, whether we get a name in the first place is a coin toss. So it's up to us to come up with appropriate names and come to a consensus on what to call them (which is too hard and puts too much responsibility on them, so everyone just does implication BURs instead).

On my thoughts on what to call them, since we coined (military_casual) for Iofi's 3rd costume, we could go with (military_uniform) for Kronii and (military_casual) for Bae. Bae's 4th costume does say in the wiki that it is the officially known as her Steel Rose costume, but trying to fact check that has been a nightmare, because, if true, that's just taken from her intro quote. Can't find shit on Twitter or Hololive's storefront for it.

create alias hoshimachi_suisei_(streetwear) -> hoshimachi_suisei_(casual)
remove alias hoshimachi_suisei_(streetwear) -> hoshimachi_suisei_(casual)

In the meantime however, I've been trying, whenever the opportunity was appropriate, to solicit thoughts on the qualifiers that we do have, whether they're appropriate, etc. on the Danbooru Discord server, because actual debate is rare in this thread. As an example, I asked about Yozora Mel (5th costume) and the current communal labeling of it as 'gothic lolita', and got resounding 'no's - though on whether goth loli-inspired clothes should be tagged with that as a qualifier there was more debating.

HeeroWingZero recently gave his thoughts on the costumes currently labeled as (streetwear), and the ultimate conclusion that was reached was that, at minimum, Suisei's should be renamed. Going back to what it is referred to in Japanese, 普段着, checking dictionaries reveals that aside from being used to refer to 'everyday clothes', it's also used for homewear, ordinary clothes and casual clothes. So, following Heero's advice, it might be best to temporarily switch this costume over to (casual) until we can think of a better descriptive.
