I can't help but feel that all these downvotes are because like me, people tend to hate emoticon tags (and especially tandem emoticon tags). However, ^q^ seems to actually be for an identifiable emoticon rather than just a vague idea of an expression. Most posts under it literally feature the text "^q^" (post #2734711, post #3405701, post #6704978 etc.) being used as a face, meaning the tag isn't garbage on its face (sorry, couldn't resist).
As such, I have no issues with this implication.
