Pointless Pools

pool #21194

The pool is called "Manly Gay Couple" and it was supposed to encompass "Adult gay couples with visually masculine traits". Isn't this basically the definition of bara?

"Visually masculine traits" does not mean it immediately is bara. I'm definitely no bara expert, but form my understanding bara is for the more extreme side of that. The pool doesn't exclude less-than-bara images (post #6556476, for example).

Yeah, which is the reason why I think this pool is kinda subjective. Since a lot of posts in this pool is basically just a buff or hairy bara couples, which is kinda common stereotypical depiction tbh. Basically searching bara + either muscular male or hairy can get the same result.

Also from my very limited understanding of bara (I blacklisted it), it doesn't always means buff men fucking each other out. It's more of a genre or artstyle that aimed specifically towards gay men where it can either be SFW or NSFW depending on the context of the posts depicted. (Like a solo post of a fully-clothed man drawn in bara style which is considered SFW)

Edit:
Considering that pool was filled mostly (if not solely) by one user, I don't know how to feel about that.

TLDR: Bara is basically yaoi but specifically emphasize on masculine quality (muscles, body hair, body bulk, etc.), it doesn't have to be NSFW to be considered a bara, as simply having the "bear-bodied" or buff hunks being gay towards each other is sufficient to be considered bara.

Since the pool itself doesn't have anything distinctive from a typical bara (basically being filled with whatever the lone user deemed "masculine", even tho the tag bara is sufficient to cover this specific style. So, a search with bara + couple is sufficient imo, if someone wanted to looking for "bara couple".

I think I would need an opinion from @Admiral_Pectoral though, since they are the one who works with this specific pool and is more well-versed in this subject than both of us.

I already explained the reasoning here forum #260138. Please give it a read.

You say "lone user" like it's something unexpected. I'm one of the very few users here who cares enough to update male focus tags and related issues. Most users don't have the patience for this sort of work, much less pools where half the userbase doesn't even know they exist (probably).
There's simply no other male focus uploader who's been here long enough to get interested in pools (or heck forum work at all) just yet.

No the pool doesn't match the bara definition because there's a lot of different pairings under a couple + bara search like post #4393594, post #7394505, post #7371006, post #7331357 etc.

Saying bara is just yaoi tells me enough.

1) You don't understand how divided the gay anime art community is in how they like their pairings.
2) You don't realize how niche this type of pairing is in the overall bara and BL communities.

Users upload what they're interested in as we all know.
You simply can't use Danbooru posts alone to represent the "typical bara pairings" because the posts are heavily biased to my own taste and I go out of my way to find this type of art and tag it to the best of my ability.

pool #22138 - "Atai to Gensokyo"

More specifically, it's numerous sub pools.

If all of these pools are part of the same comic series, they're all in the main pool, and the description of the pool links to the first page of each chapter, then there's no reason for them to have their own pools. It's no different from having a bunch of parent/child relations in a comic pool, they're already in order, they don't need additional grouping. Some of these pools are only a handful of images, it's just padding.

Was gonna bring this up. I created the main series pool because it was nigh impossible to read them in order as the chapters were all part of separate pools before. Specifically all of these pools are kinda pointless now cause they are all in the main pool:
