Japanese footwear implications

Posted under Tags

Geta being unable to auto-imply sandals because of non-traditional geta footwear seems like the opposite of what's happening with furisode in topic #25987. The English Wikipedia article (link) only ever mentions sandals; the only western influences listed are a change in shape:

Recently, as Western shoes have become more popular, more Western-looking geta have been developed. They are more round in shape, may have an ergonomically shaped dai, a thick heel as in Western clogs, instead of separate teeth, and the thong at the side as in flip-flops.

If anything, maybe non-traditional geta could be created for stuff like https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/6635843?
