Pools and noobs

In light of the point that was brought up by albert (forum #25761) in my Vendetta thread, I would like to highlight another issue involving (possible) mistakes that new users seem to be making, this time involving pools.

I had been noticing that for some several weeks that pool #715, named "[Anekono Techou] (Koume Keito) Rein to Gyu Pon Qyun!" was being constantly bumped to the top of the pools list. Then I caught on to the idea that it was, alphabetically, the first pool name to appear in the sidebar when using "Add to Pool".

So I made the pool Private, and solved that problem. But then that pool name disappeared from the list (probably from being made inactive). Now the same issue has risen again, with pool #214 at the top of the list. See its history and take a look at the number of random, totally unrelated posts that have been added to it.

Quick and easy fix? Again, Private the pool (after removing the randoms, of course). But is there something else that could be suggested?

A temporary fix could be just adding a single pool starting with a ! with nothing in it (and making note as to what this pool is for in the pointless pools thread so nobody deletes it.)

True, but until albert gets around to do that, I have made a dummy pool called AAA[Dummy Pool] (The exclamation point didn't work). pool #951.

Ah, odd, I figured it would sort punctuation first as lists typically do, but whatever works and prevents people from accidental vandalism.

Yes, umhyuk's idea is the correct one from an interface design standpoint. And the temp dummy pool works for now.

Yeah, this is something for Trac. You'll be able to figure it out, and then you'll know how for the future.
