I'm uploading images to get them on tbib but might not be approved here (high quality but western), please don't hurt my upload limit.

Heads up, I uploaded a bunch of high quality but not anime art to get it "downstream" to tbib. Since this is just done just because tbib dosen't have manual uploads and deleted posts automatically hurt your upload limit if these posts get deleted by mods is it possible to "freeze" my upload limit while I finish "transferring" to that big image board?

You can upload to gelbooru, to eventually get it on tbib

Thank you, I was trying to be as "upstream" as possible for personal prefference and gelbooru keeps deleting my account (despite having never even logged on to it for more than minute, I think they mistake me for a spam bot) but the problem seems to have sorted itself out as the posts in question were approved. Thanks tho.

"No" is a perfectly acceptable answer to a close-ended question such as the one you asked. I'd say it's even a courteous response considering you're basically asking for an exception to the rules.

The reason unapproved posts hurt your upload limit is to prevent the site from being flooded by mediocre art. That's why it would be unreasonable to expect your upload limit to be frozen; it would let you post whatever you want without any negative consequences, and that wouldn't be fair to the other users.

Also, there's a difference between automatic deletion and manual deletion. Your post will only get manually deleted if it breaks the rules (extremely poor quality, anime screencaps, most third-party edits, etc.). If you suspect a post will get manually deleted, then you shouldn't upload it. I'm assuming you didn't know the difference, or you wouldn't have asked.

The way you get unlimited uploads is by being promoted to Contributor level. The way you do that is by proving your uploads really are high quality, by uploading a large number of posts and maintaining a low deletion rate. Generally the goal is around 750 uploads and a 5% or so deletion rate. There's no other way to get unlimited uploads except by getting promoted on merit.

Note that the upload limit only matters if you're actually hitting your limit. If you're not actually hitting your limit by uploading good posts faster than they can be approved, then your uploads are effectively unlimited anyway.

Question how about people who have almost no deleted post?

Thank you for the rough estimate, I was trying to look at recently promoted users to find out the same but now I have a clear goal in mind. True that on the "technically" infinite upload limit it just feels restrictive, and I guess part of me is afraid of losing progress.

I didn't as much mean an exception to the rules as there would be no issue with all this being deleted. It was more that it was a bit of an unusual situation so I wanted to give the mods a heads up and perhaps consideration of it being an unusual situation: having to go the roundabout way with tbib rather than just uploading irrelevant content because I didn't read the rules on here. I would be perfectly fine making it all into a pool and having it insta deleted after it reached tbib.

As for the "don't be dick" that was about single word answers to post seeming snappy and knowing horror stories about forum moderators I feared it was someone sassing me over being a new member. Apologies to DeusExCalamus if that wasn't the case.

One thing I didn't mention was that manual deletion would make your upload take up five upload slots for three days instead of one slot, which further limits the amount of unwanted material being uploaded at once. Your posts were approved (Congratulations!) so you don't need to worry about losing upload slots, but automatic deletion should be the worst you expect when uploading those posts. We are generally more tolerant of Western art then we were in the past, and while not everyone agrees this should be the case, high-quality Western art is no longer considered off-topic. Even if no approvers liked the posts and they kept getting deleted, your upload limit would only get as low as 5, so you'd still be able to upload them all. It would just take a bit more time.

Manual deletions should be avoided whenever possible even though they aren't worse for your upload limit because you do risk getting banned if you post rule-breaking content too often, but again, it's not something you need to worry about for this situation.

As for forum mods, it is true some users can be less than polite on occasion. This includes mods and admins, though in my experience, they tend to only be rude when someone is acting rude towards them first. DeusExCalamus is a Contributor and does not have any authority on the forums, same as you and me. You can tell who does have authority by looking at the name color; Moderators have green names and Admins have red names. Evazion is the current site owner, placing him above the other Admins, so any explanation he gives regarding how things work around here can safely be assumed to be correct.
