And speaking of suggestions, with this BUR (and hopefully the swimsuit BUR now that I've touched it up after speaking with Arcie), we'll be done with all the easy qualifying. The only ones left will be the dresses, the casuals and the defaults. Since we're leaving the defaults for last, I genuinely recommend everyone start going through the List™ and pitch ideas for qualifiers if they have any for the dresses and casuals - what should have (casual), what (loungewear), what should receive something else, etc.

Feel free to factor in for your suggestions batch releases for qualifier consistency (ala HoloMyth's party dresses), but always keep in mind whether the batch release would make sense for qualifier consistency (ala holoro's 2nd costumes - Anya and Reine's outfits are way more casual than Ollie's Indo-style dress).

Next on the chopping block are the cosplay and miscellaneous costumes. May as well lump them together.

For most of these, they are just qualified with what they're dressed up as, with the exception of Anya's Steampunk outfit, which goes with theme instead. I had considered for a moment going with (spacesuit) for Amelia's latest costume, but ultimately went with astronaut, to keep in the format. The two non-cosplay ones are Roboco's t-shirt, and Marine's 5th costume, which I had erroneously listed under miscellaneous because no one checked the List™ and corrected my goofy ass.

Mexi had previously suggested it just be (t-shirt), but I think the fact it says 'high-spec' on it is a key part of it, so I decided to include it. If it and Shion's qualifiers are too long for y'all, I'll change them to (t-shirt) and (maid) respectively. Marine's costume meanwhile is an awkward one - it's a 3D-only costume, from a birthday live that doesn't have an actual name, and the costume itself didn't receive a proper name either, being merely referred to as "Captain Marine 3D Misoji Edition"... misoji being romaji for 'thirty years old'. For comedic purposes, I'm just putting (misoji) as the qualifier, but if anyone has any actual suggestions for it, please don't hesitate and pitch it.

For Marine maybe we could try something like (marching_band) or the sort and leave misoji as an alias.

I'm going to try and get the ball rolling for this more tenuous half of the Hololive costume renaming. Dipping into the more leisurely side of the casual outfits, I'm starting with Marine and Koyori's summer costumes. But this's the best I can think of for these sets of costumes.

I'm not good at determining what's really casual, or streetwear, or what have you; I don't consider myself someone to be trusted with fashion, and that's with men's fashion - women's fashion is beyond me. That's why I find it extremely worrying that every single BUR that's been passed so far for the costume renaming has been mine with adjustments made per thread suggestions. I refuse to be the sole arbiter of qualifiers, especially when it comes to women's fashion. That's why I really want y'all to start pitching qualifiers, because at this rate, we're never going to get this finished, and we'll be stuck in this semi-renamed state forever (or someone forces half-assed qualifiers no one is satisfied with, but no one will have the right to complain because no one pitched shit beyond individual VTubers).

One of the problems of being stuck in this in-between phase is having to worry people will start mistagging the (nth_costume) tags, and even if that hasn't explicitly happened yet, one can see the potential. Which is why we need to get this shit finished, people! I'm going to alias the (nth_costume) qualifier to Gura's new school uniform as a preventive measure, just to be safe.

I personally don't like the (summerwear), it soounds very unnatural and pretty much everyone seems to call those outfits just their swimsuits.

For the other outfits, (casual) is an absolute non-starter as it's too broad and the BUR is gonna be massive with multiple single-point failures as no one is gonna agree on what counts as casual and what doesn't, not to mention that some vtubers have mutliple "casual" outfits, which is why I originally started doing the BURs one character at a time and set precedent as we go.

We can try to start off with the ones that have a jirai kei theme: Towa, Fauna, and Chloe's. We can do something like jirai_kei to specify them as "landmine girl date casual" outfits or something of the sort. Idk, just my initial suggestion based on this development that casual would be too broad (which would mean an entirely new suitable qualifier for Kronii's and Mumei's).

Personally for me, I think we should call Marine and Koyori's summer outfits just to be "swimsuits", (as most clippers call them their swimsuits, and even said girls themselves call them that) for the casual looks, I kinda agree that we should called them
jirai kei cause "casual" sounds to simplistic (or "streetwear" could also work)

I still don't like the prospect of simply naming them (swimsuit) purely because they aren't just swimsuits, in the same way that the 2019 swimsuits are, especially in Koyori's sake. I'll offer a compromise though - I've shortened the qualifier down to (summer) and added swimsuit qualifiers as utility aliases.

I absolutely agree with you on the qualifier debates likely to be had. But had everything gone on pace, the individual approach could've worked out, but the week long gap between any discussion and evazion thinking we should go by theme instead has resulted in our current situation. Regardless, even in that context, wouldn't (casual) be a valid choice for a qualifier because you suggested it for Sora's 3rd costume?

Either way, trying to piecemeal the casual costumes is probably our best bet, as I had just done with the summerwear, and as Arcie suggested with the jirai kei outfits. Based on your Sora BUR, a (streetwear) BUR would also be possible.
