Straight-on is a different term, not a made-up one. I considered head-on when creating this tag, but I decided to go with the current name because unlike head-on, the first thing that comes to mind when you hear "straight-on" isn't car accidents. There's a reason "straight-on angle" is the first autocomplete result in Google when you type "straight-on".

Head-on also has several meanings, one of which is face-to-face (making it ambiguous). Straight-on does not have this problem, which is yet another reason I chose it over head-on.

I think that's not in the face-to-face sense of the tag (which might be a rename candidate in itself). That definition of head-on is like, confrontational, head-to-head, face-to-face combat.

Would be fine with this in either direction

This tag needs to be cleaned up a bit or else it's going to end up eventually getting nuked. I already see some uploaders slapping it on every time a character is vaguely facing towards the camera and at that rate it's going to apply to half the site.

I'll garden it a bit and send some DMs.

Checked a few thousand posts, removed the tag from 620 posts and notified the following users about correct usage:
