I dont know who's idea it was, but thanks for allowing uploaders to upload directly from the source getting rid of the need to download even photo. Best feature on any imageboard

I know this exact system isn't on other boorus, but do they at least let you input the image link? Like. https://i.pximg.net/img-original/img/2007/09/09/22/14/07/20_p0.jpg for example. You have to upload it from your PC?

Your example is wrong, because pixiv direct links don't work in the first place.

Yeah, gives me error 403

But have you tried inputting it into the upload field

That's because you need to send it specific headers. It's perfectly accessible to anyone, including the upload page.
