It's actually a fairly good reason, in many cases. That one could probably pass even without translation, but in general there are a fair number of 4koma that are not worth much artistically. Their real worth is in the dialog... but there's no way for most of us to know that unless it's translated.

In the interest of giving such posts a chance, is there any push among the translators here to check a "4koma translation_request" search? Is there any translator sub-community here at all? Months here, and I still don't know much 'bout the inner workings.

There are quite a number of active translators, however there's just more stuff to be translated than they can do. And of course they're mostly just going to translate things they're interested in, which makes sense.

Alrighty. Mind if the translation_request wiki has a note for 4komas' tenuous approval without translations?

Many mods/janitors have stated before that they may tend to pass on 4komas if they're not translated, and there are currently 47 pages already of "4koma translation_request" at the time of this post. That's a ton to go through, and on our own time even, so it's not like we're just letting them die out on purpose.

I have personally appealed some 4komas that hit the 3 day mark because I was going through them after someone requested so if you want something specific in the 4koma department, best to make a note of it in the comments or something if it goes neglected for a while. No guarantees though, and like jxh said, (at least for me) level of interest in subject matter has a strong positive correlation to speed of material getting translated.

This makes me sad, but it is the truth. The fact is, most (all?) of us are doing these translations for fun, so it's only natural that we're going to focus on what we like.

Not sure I want to set a precedent of doing this, but given that the parent is, indeed, an overly large 17 MB, I'll undelete the smaller one for a more accessible child. Since it's not small or anything.

Would be nice if people would learn when to use JPG and when to use PNG.
