Transformation

Posted under Tags

Just for the sake of clarification, transformation is only intended for people or object in the process of changing, correct? It's my understanding that we don't simply stick this tag on any and every post where a character is depicted in a radically different form than usual. Otherwise it would apply to practically every example of younger, genderswap, monsterification, mechanization, etc.

I'm only asking because from time to time I see something tagged as transformation when it appears that the person or object in question may have always been this way, like post #495479 or post #3033314 (rating:questionable). Should the tag be more precisely defined to exclude such images? Do we make an exception for post-transformation images where it's clear that the subject has just been changed, as in post #2870774?

IMO it should only be for the act of transformation being depicted. Otherwise it loses its value and becomes just another umbrella tag. Not only that, but you lose the capability to locate posts with the active act of transformation going on.

Is henshin and transformation supposed to be mutually exclusive? If not what's the difference?

Yes, they should be...mostly. Henshin typically only involves the changing of the outfit, whereas transformation involves the changing of the person. One case where the two might be the same is if the character henshins (changes outfit) while also having an actively shown transformation (changes person).

4-years up because the problem remains.

1) Tag voice is inconsistent, and intent often unclear:

Bowsette says "do not use the transformation tag unless the transformation is shown."

I suggest this general renaming rule:
transforming for undergoing change.
transformed for final change result.
transformation for both.

----

2) Thousands of "-ing" and "-ed" are mixed in those tags.
Collective effort to sort them out?

----

3) Some transforms are multi-image:

How do we tag these?
