According to Wikipedia, CAR-15 is a family of AR-15-style (M16-based) rifles marketed by Colt. This tag should be reserved for the military-style variant which has shorter barrel than the M16 and an adjustable buttstock - but different from the M4 Carbine. It is known as the Colt Commando, also known with the designation XM117

I think it would be easier for many people to remember things by its pronounceable name/phrase rather than random letters and numbers combination. While on the same time I also think that using shorter tags is more encouraged, as long as not being ambiguous.
