ive been an advocate for a costume category for a while now, but if this thread is the one to finally push us over i wouldnt have a complaint, but i can guess a few that will come up if it happens:
1. fate
2. what is and isnt a character's default/1st costume
3. tag changes from game to game cough cough bridget cough cough
all of these problems are solvable given enough willpower, debate, and telling people to suck it, but its up the admins if they see it as worth it

I need a little help. I'm going through Shirogane Noel posts in the hope of populating her outfits (looks like she needs a BUR), and came across her swimsuit (post #3889128) that she's frequently depicted in, yet it doesn't have a numbered costume chartag. For now, I made the shirogane noel (swimsuit) tag, but I don't know if this is correct or if I have to make a shirogane noel (7th costume) tag. I don't follow VTubers whatsoever, so this numbering convention for official alternate costumes is incredibly vague and confusing for me. I know the concept is in its infancy though, so I won't say anything to muddy the conversation any further.

From what I can tell, that swimsuit is in fact not official, and thus isn't numberable in the first place, but it is based on art created by Noel's artist watao, post #3600069, perhaps hoping to make it official (like having it used in merch ala post #4044870) before Hololive abandoned the concept of individual swimsuits. Generally, unofficial or non-model costumes such as this don't get tags, and I'm talking about this in general, not just for VTubers.

Okay. Since I'm not overly familiar with the VTuber culture, I'll just leave the tagging of official costumes to those in the know and follow behind with populating whenever I have time.

If an unofficial outfit gets enough recognition and fanart, it would make sense to give it a tag, just don't count it in the nth costume system.
