Singular or plural: power_lines

From the Plural > Singular alias thread:
power_lines -> power_line

What do people think? I've always automatically thought of these as plural in my mind, but is it "plural enough" to go against the preference for singular?

At least, from where I'm at, I can see at least two or three lines attached to the electrical posts. In some of the images posted here so far, I always see two lines strung over the poles. So I think we should go plural here. Just my two cents.

lines, I can't really think of many situations where it would be a single line running anywhere with no convergence point/transformer.

Power Lines will basically always be a multiple of 3, in the situations where you would tag them as such. Otherwise its just a cable.

I see no benifit in drawing a distinction between single or multiple lines; it's function seems more important and the plural should suffice for both. Incidentally, a good number of such images are probably more depictions of telephone lines which, to my understanding, aren't buried in Japan but proliferate in a jumble on the urban skyline. The closest tag for such is telephone pole. I'm not sure this is much a problem, though.

I do believe that above ground lines are more frequently used in Japan than below ground lines, so it probably wouldn't be unreasonable if most or all of them really are power lines instead of telephone lines.

Anyways +1 for power_lines.

I prefer power_lines even though I'm the one who proposed this alias. I mainly proposed this because power lines are similar to cables/wires, which we decided should be singular in forum #22592.

Guess we'll just stick with plural for this then.
