blocked from NWS anime pics, but what about the Ads?

what is up with that?
and i know there is nothing on my computer. so it is coming from this site. i click other sites and i see no flash AD at all.

i click through this forum. and no ads here. its only in the galleries.

you may want to talk to your Advertisers.
i can block the image, but not the route, and it allows you to "Skip" the ad. but it is a bit disruptive.

I am figuring out how much revenue adult ads can bring. If they can generate more than $15 a day, I'll consider opening up the entire site.

The ads you are using are kind of obnoxious. But I can understand why you would want to break even with hosting fees. ;)

i am just unsure about that use of a flash ad.

I think something worth noting in general is that people would be well served not to go and adblock all the ads albert puts up. If he loses ad revenue, the site will only get LESS open, not MORE.

Small question, how does the site generate revenue? From people clicking the Ads or just from them see'ing the ads?

It is indeed a little questenionable for a non-privileged user to see porn ads, since they are not allowed to view the explict content. Then again, would you use Danbooru, for an example, in the public anyways? Most of the safe pictures and the general art styles here ain't suitable for general masses.

Agreed. Looking at anime pictures, even completely and nonsexual ones, is not work safe in most environments.

Period.

Not even in most of Japan I'd imagine.

So being especially worksafe shouldn't be a goal of Danbooru. By nature imageboards aren't for public browsing.

The point is, the non-safe images are most of the traffic on the site (or were on the earlier version), so they take the most bandwidth. Blocking the public's access to the porn saves on bandwidth costs. It's not a moral issue, it's a financial one.

I'm very aware of that. But as I said, it shouldn't matter to anyone that you see porn ads, even if you don't see your hentai.
