They are the same thing. Tail Feathers are the proper name for a Bird Tail.

How about this: a partially feathered tail for post #2021896, and deprecation of tail feathers in favor of bird tail.

We could even alias bird tail to feathered tail if we REALLY want, to be fully consistent, though I'm not a big fan of it, or keep it as an umbrella for both tails that are just a few feathers, and actual meaty tails covered with feathers.
