alias falling_star -> shooting_star

Falling star may refer to: meteor or falling star, the visible passage of a glowing meteoroid through Earth's atmosphere. Nearly the same definition for shooting star. We don't need two tags for what is basically the same thing.

I know this topic has already been discussed before. But in my opinion it needs to be discussed again.

Some of them looks more like meteor shower, which does not implicate shooting star.

So it should be changed to meteor shower.
My intention is that whenever a user uploads an image like post #5740835, it should be tagged shooting star.

Meteor showers are made of shooting stars.

I wouldn't say meteor and shooting star are the same art-wise. They refer to the same physical phenomenon, but in art I would tag shooting star when it's a thin streak of light across the sky and meteor when it's firey rock. Aesthetically they're usually very different. I would say that shooting and falling star are essentially the same though.

I'd tag post #5817087 as meteor. Flaming rocks are falling from the sky. It's ambiguous whether it's technically a celestial body but referring to that sort of magic spell as "meteor" is common enough. I wouldn't tag it as a shooting or falling star.

post #5495587 is on the edge and I think it would be fair to tag both shooting/falling star and meteor shower (although I probably wouldn't tag meteor) but I don't think that applies to most meteor shower posts.

That's the point, We need to clean up the falling star tag, classifying each of the posts in their respective existing tags with Wiki such as shooting star, meteor, meteor shower and comet.

I agree. Shooting star and falling star are the same and shooting star is the better name. If you were talking about forum #227346 when you said it's a problem of gardening, I agree with that too.

But meteor is different (when talking about art) so I was saying I don't agree with BUR #13606, and I think that's what nonamethanks was saying too.

@nonamethanks I correctly tagged a lot of posts tagged falling star. But I have a problem, these posts contain falling stars but in the literal sense.

I think it's better to tag those posts as star_(symbol). What do you think about this? Do you think it's better to deprecate the tag rather than the alias?

Falling star in a literal sense is definitely something worth tagging.

This. Probably makes sense to keep falling star for literal falling stars, despite its ambiguity, because it's fairly small and easy to garden.
