Do you really want spider posts being tagged with insect?

Insect is the better tag, as that's how its tagged across most websites of this nature. Also helps avoid people stumbling into the thing with how direct it is.
I have no opinion on the Insect/Spider debate, as I've seen spider get rolled in with insect so often that it doesn't phase me in either direction. That said, its irrelevant to the matter of changing the name.
Bug is the better term with it's common colloquial meaning of referring to various small arthropods, a meaning of which the word has had since the late 1500's-early 1600's versus the scientific meaning which came about from Carl Linnaeus in the 1700's. This common term is used even by scientific and governmental organizations when reaching out to the public at large, such as the Smithsonian and Maine's Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry.
An easy example of the broader meaning of "bug" can be simply seen with the naming of ladybugs and pillbugs. If we wanted to stick to the more scientifically accurate naming, then we'd be calling them "lady beetle" and "wood louse" respectively.

"Insect" is more colloquial than "lady beetle" though. I'm not arguing on using the scientific naming of things, I just want a clearer tag.
(To be fair to you, I went to check Google Trends to see which word was used more often, and it seems that bug is much more searched than insect. On the other hand, the bug search mixes both computer bug searches and entomology searches. I haven't been able to sort them by only entomology searches because, apparently, there isn't enough data.)
I will also concede that bug bite is more colloquial than insect bite, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, I would be fine with leaving it as bug bite and aliasing insect bite to it.
Alternatively there is the forbidden path that has been taken with arthropod girl, but for the sake of everyone's sanity and tag granularity, it's better to leave it aside.

Insects are bugs, bugs aren't all insects. Alias should be reversed.
You'd call a centipede or a moth a bug, but neither are insects. Same goes for spiders. Bug is a general, informal term, insect is a scientific classification.

Technically speaking, a spider isn't a bug either.
Likewise, I highly doubt that anyone searching for bug is specifically looking for hemipterans.

I dont think any bugs besides insects have wings, insect wings seems more natural to me.
