Reworking the rating system

so if "sensitive" refers for anything "ecchi" or something what does "questionable" refer now as a rating.

Most ecchi is still Q. S is for stuff like cleavage, upper thighs or tight clothing.

The help:cheatsheet page needs to be updated in regards to the ratings split. Page appears to be locked so this needs a builder(?) or moderator to do. The main change would just be to include the new rating definitions under the 'Post Qualifiers' section.

Furthermore while checking to see which of the new ratings contributed against tag search limits, I found that *none* of the rating: metatags count against the limit, while the limitations section clearly states that only rating:safe previously counted against search limits.

Updated both matters.

Will suggestive dialogue or profanity be tagged as general, in instances where it's clearly not safe for work kind of dialogue.
For example, a safe post of two characters discussing getting fucked in the butt: post #5087944
Or some girl cheering on viewer's penis: post #1825168

First one should stay sensitive because the brown-haired girl boy is visibly in heat in the second panel

Second one should be S if we decide all implied_erection is S. Otherwise should stay G because most can't read what it says; would definitely make it S if it was English text though. If language doesn't matter then all NSFW text should S

If the second is G without context, then so is the the first one, because drooling without context isn't inherently sexual. She could just be hungry.

Fair enough. Glowing blush added too, but I suppose hungry drooling characters often suddenly blush as well especially if it's just showing the hungry/horny person has reverted to a carnal state. The white pupils also add to the effect here even though it's just the art style for all the characters.

A fair argument. I am not a programmer. My knowledge of code ended with DOS way back when. However, to turn everything "safe" to "sensitive" out of an abundance of caution and convenience is wrong and an insult to the artists we support.

I could see such a drastic change being made 10 years ago without care, but not now. Too much good has come in terms of quality control since then. If we are to continue in this way, perhaps certain tags need to be grandfathered in. Scenery, landscape, cityscape ect. But even then there are so many "General" images that don't carry those tags.

Unless of course the intent is to simply accept the collateral damage and press forward with no regard to previous posts. Which is my assumption.

If it's common enough, perhaps for a bit there could be a thread for users with many G uploads (like me and you) to have a moderator bulk convert all their S uploads to G. Maybe you could even provide a fav group of posts you don't want included as an exception if it's a small amount like 1%.

Btw, for the howto:rate page, can anyone add info regarding levels of affection acceptable for G/S? Like I'd logically guess that hugs and handholding would go to G (assuming no other elements heighten the rating), and heavier makeouts/french kissing or whatever would go into S, but having a more formalized note would make me feel "safer". I ain't exactly sure if "regular" kisses are too much for G, for example.

And maybe some guidelines for drug usage depicted...? Like if it's off-limits for G or doesn't matter.

I collect content to be posted in my server by using -rating:s. I used to miss so many good ecchi posts that got but into the safe category. This greatly helps me not miss all the good ecchi that is posted. This change helps a lot

General is obligated to be squeaky clean, and not the mess of softcore porn that Safe used to be. Having some General things end up in Sensitive is far preferable to anything Sensitve ending up in General. Things like post #5356160 are exactly why we can't just automate anything into G just because it's tagged scenery.

It's just a label for searching and making NSFW content more available. It doesn't really affect post discovery too much overall. Wouldn't say it even affects the artists at all.

I wouldn't worry too much about it being called "sensitive" as "safe" didn't really mean "safe" before either. Just treat it as "potentially unsafe", "potentially NSFW", "potentially upsetting", "might be lewd", etc., even if it should actually be General.

Is something like post #5370349 really sensitive? What determines it in this specific image?

That one might be in a grey area, but I put it back as S because the chest is almost completely exposed; the sheer clothing reveals a lot so it seems mildly risqué. Feel free to revert, but I erred on the side of caution.

We had that happen before when the first ratings were introduced.
Everything uploaded to that point ended up rated as questionable by default.
Simply because "safe" was way more restrictive that "questionable", and you don't want false-positives in rating:s or, now, rating:g. However, having false-positives in the other direction is far more preferable, because no one who wants to browse Danbooru in public should browse q or e (and now s).

I think a language-agnostic approach makes sense here. It would be awkward for a rating:g user to click on a seemingly normal post only to get hit with someone's fetish. (Though of course, if you genuinely can't read a post you're uploading, that's another story - the translator would just have to rerate.)

What do breast feeding without lacation classify as?

I'm assuming lactation is rating:e because of the body fluids but I'm not sure about the former if there is no milk.
