Changes to several vehicle tags

BUR #9154 has been approved by @nonamethanks.

create implication dump_truck -> truck
create implication fire_truck -> truck
create implication garbage_truck -> truck
create implication pickup_truck -> truck
create implication semi_truck -> truck
create implication tank_truck -> truck

So, since we have several tags for different types of truck, I think they really need to be implicated. I was about to request the concrete_mixer_truck and haul_truck tags to be implicated as well, however they require at least 10 posts.

The monster truck tag shouldn't implicate the truck tag. Monster trucks can be built out of or made to look like various other type of vehicles, including cars and buses, so the tag shouldn't be forced to implicate the truck tag just because of the naming.

So, I guess motor vehicle is more suitable then?

That tag would be more suitable for the implication.

Should the trailer tag really implicate the ground vehicle tag? The tag currently has images such as:

• boat trailer: post #5158940
• Camper trailer: post #2223412
• Food truck trailer: post #1428934
• RVs: post #3103636 (not sure why you used the term caravan in the trailer wiki, especially when it's an ambiguous term)
• Trailer home: post #4192954
• Tanker trailer: post #3388635

I think the trailer homes could have their own tag. About the others, I think they qualify as trailers since they could be pulled by a SUV, small pickup truck or large truck.

Piggybacking on this thread to add some more car implications. Aliasing supercar to sports car, since supercars are essentially just extremely high performance expensive sports cars.

Thanks for requesting more changes, I wonder if heavy construction equipments could count as motor vehicles? Like bulldozer, excavator, tractor, steamroller, etc.

You're really trying to do too much in one implication, with many of these things that could warrant individual conversations. Like the sports utility vehicle tag, are we sure we want that to implicate the car tag? In some places it's consider a type of light truck, and other places it's consider not quite a car and not quite a truck.

What's your idea on this? Make it implicate the ground vehicle tag like the monster truck?

That would be fine, though I'm just voicing my concern and ideally getting other people to add their input on it.

Yeah, I would love to see the opinions from other people too. Also, the BUR has been updated.

Please remove the taxi one, I know its accurate to the wiki but it is being used for tuk-tuks, rickshaws and personifications.

We usually dont make implications for tags with less than 20 posts so this large request is likely to wither and die from a time out when no one wants to deal with it. My advise would be to make new, separate BURs for the pickup + garbage trucks, SUV and carriage + trailer.

P.S. It would be interesting to see if the motor vehicle tag is used much for searching. It seems kinda superfluous to me.

I think I can manage that, if possible I would revert the BUR back to a truck-related BUR, what do you think?

When proposing large BURs like these you should split them into separate ones based on distinct concepts, and also not edit them as the discussion progresses and after people have already voted, otherwise it's impossible for us to tell what's going on.

From reading this thread it's not clear to me what the conclusion was and which implications people agreed on, so for now I only approved the truck implications from the original BUR and removed the following lines:

create implication carriage -> ground_vehicle
create implication monster_truck -> motor_vehicle
create implication trailer -> ground_vehicle
create implication sports_utility_vehicle -> motor_vehicle
create alias suv_(vehicle) -> sports_utility_vehicle

Please open a different topic for these.
