BUR #9538 has been approved by @nonamethanks.
rename count_of_monte_cristo -> count_of_monte_cristo_(gankutsuou)
Ambiguous, could potentially be used for the book character or a version from another adaptation.

It's worth noting that even "Gankutsuou" is sort of ambiguous, as that is what the book was originally titled for the Japanese translation, and apparently is still commonly used in Japan. I guess it's unlikely to be a problem here though.

Just wanted to clarify, is this like a Fate situation? I mean, a historic/folkloric character that is brought to a fictional media?
No, the count of monte cristo is a fictional character, coming from the eponymous book. What EB is saying is that Gankutsuou is the name of the book in Japan, so it could be confused for the tag for the official character by people who know the book by that name.
I don't think there's much ambiguity, and artworks featuring the protagonist of the original book, if any, should be tagged Edmond Dantes anyways.

I mean, the Gankutsuou character is named Edmond Dantes too.

If you're renaming this one then Albert de morcerf, Andrea cavalcanti and so on should all be renamed since they also share their names with the original French novel.
BUR #9551 has been approved by @nonamethanks.
rename albert_de_morcerf -> albert_de_morcerf_(gankutsuou)
rename andrea_cavalcanti -> andrea_cavalcanti_(gankutsuou)
As above

those aren't the only characters tho, I just used them as examples but pretty much all the anime characters share their name with the French novel, unless there're original characters.

They should all be renamed then. It's been a long time since I watched the anime, so someone else will have to create the BUR.
Yeah, it's a good point. Here's the rest.
e: Just remembered Peppo's novel analogue was named Peppino, so I guess we don't need a qualifier there.
