Nobody's picking on you. The mud-slinging on the previous page stopped after phane reproached it, so there's no need to dwell on it any further. On the other hand, you're still writing in all-lowercase, so it's worth spending some more words on that.

After Log told you to use capital letters and punctuation, you responded by saying that "i'm sorry that you feel that even in today's net society proper punctuation is a must", that there are worse offenders anyway, and that you're "no english major", and also "lazy". Then you went on to keep writing exactly as you did before.
That doesn't look like an apology at all, you know. It comes off as "get off my case, man, who cares about that". And if that's not what you meant, that's one more reason to work on your written expression, don't you think?

It might seem petty to you, but there are good reasons for insisting on proper capitalization, punctuation, and spelling:

- It makes what you write easier and more pleasant to read for other users. If you're going to make posts in the forums or in the comments section, we don't want them to be annoying to read.

- By contrast, choosing to write sloppily denotes a lack of consideration for others. It's like saying "The tiny effort I save by not pressing a couple keys is worth more than the time you waste as you try to make sense of my mess of jumbled-together sentences."

- When you visit a new place, you would do well to follow the local norms, especially after you're explicitly asked to. If you went to Japan, would you not take off your shoes when entering a house? If you said "we don't do *that* in America" and walked in without taking them off, it would be a grave act of disrespect towards your hosts.

- From past experience with other users, there is a strong correlation between poor writing and poor behaviour. This might be due to a lack of maturity, or of education, or of respect for the community. Whatever the reason, it's a big warning flag.

Therefore, it's in everyone's interest that you try and write in decent form. Nobody's asking you to be the next Shakespeare, but something like beginning your sentences with capital letters and ending them with periods requires no talent or instruction, just will.

Heh, was away. But I already did.

Also, re: Shakespeare, take into account that he wrote when there was no fixed spelling for the English language yet (and that wasn't seen as much of a problem, after all, only bores spell their names in only one way). So his "issues" were his as much as anyone else's.

I know that, it's just funny to think that most people's idea of a literary genius was lax with what today are basic mechanics. Citing him as an example of good spelling seems especially ironic.

That does *not* imply his language was sloppy. His spelling was variadic because he helped shape it, not because he didn't care about the language.

Just throwing in my two cents.

I usually ignore posts with no punctuation, or capitalization. I'm surprised I actually read this thread O.o

I know it may be hypocritical of me, since my own grammar could probably use some work, but I try to make sure what I say makes sense.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just noting the disparity. I should have said "by today's standards." One couldn't write in almost perfect meter and still be sloppy, but his standards were different than ours.

You quoted a fragment from a sentence which clarified that we're not requiring danbooru users to display outstanding literary talent, but merely to apply a few mechanical rules that are within anyone's reach. It is thus plain to see that Shakespeare was being cited as a paragon of great writing (one that anyone who speaks English can be expected to have heard of), not of great spelling.

Um... I didn't realize this was worth arguing about. I wasn't actually trying to disagree with anyone, I was just bringing up an interesting point about Shakespeare, since spelling would be one of the criteria for preferred writing on Danbooru. I'll retract my comment if you like, since it's not worth arguing for arguing's sake.

ok you have you're points. but from the looks of it this all revolves around me not capitalizing my letters that's just a bad habit that didn't register as you can clearly see compared to my first post here and my later ones punctuations periods and proper grammar have been used.

As far as my so called "get off my case" explanation i was only defending myself and yeah i'm lazy and i'm no english major and its all habit i'm not gonna neglect a comma just to stir shit up its probably because i forgot. I mean seriously though it's all right there on the first page my comment his correction and then the results.
and now i guess i'm apparently a troll.

Are you denying it, or flaunting it? If the former... you do a very bad job of it. If the latter, why would you, given that you'll probably just get jailed for it?
