As seen in tag group:sports, we have tags for over 20 different sports, but none of them actually implies sport. The fact that these tags don't necessarily require the character to be in the process of playing the sport shouldn't be a problem, because that's what playing sports is for. What do we think about an implication?
The sport tag is poorly defined and used on such a wide variety of posts that I question its value. Its wiki (authored by a user notorious for bad wiki edits) reads like a dictionary definition and does nothing to explain how it should be used as a tag. What, exactly, are the criteria for when this tag should be used?
Does sport include individual non-competitive recreational activities? (post #3049717, post #3955657)
What about characters standing around in athletic wear? (post #1761270, post #4539011)
What about fetish art that happens to include sporting gear? (post #406963)
I'd be wary of making any implications to sport until we can address these questions and come up with a proper wiki for the tag. Or nuke it.

create alias sport -> playing_sports
I don't see the point in having these two tags apart. I also don't see the point in having a generic tag for anything from cricket to rugby.
Since it seems that the alias has adequate support, would it be alright to go ahead and clean up sport -playing_sports?
