These tags have historically been plagued by users adding them to any post where there was either piece. We even used to have specific color tags but we nuked them in topic #16600.
The last straw was when someone added the sentence "the lower body of the wearer is hidden out of frame, such as in post #2836437" as one of the acceptable usages, so another builder went ahead and mass added bikini top to upper body pictures. As it stands, these tags serve no purpose. We might as well add no pants to all pics of upper bodies too.

Right now these two tags serve no purpose:

• if you want topless women in bikini topless bikini has better results than bikini_bottom
• the same for bottomless bikini vs bikini_top
• if you want mismatched bikini there's mismatched bikini
• if you want to see them removed there's bikini top removed, bikini bottom removed etc.

Nuking these tags is basically a net gain.

I guess bikini top had its uses back when it was meant to refer to characters wearing just a bikini top and pants/shorts/whatever, but yeah looking at it now it's mostly just bikini + upper body

create alias bikini_bottom -> bikini_bottom_only

I counter-propose renaming them to bikini top only and bikini bottom only and cleaning them up. That was the original purpose of these tags, when you could see someone was wearing only the top part or only the bottom part of a bikini. This is yet another case of autistic taggers taking things too literally and ruining a perfectly good tag.

I'd say this is akin to nuking topless because of brainless taggers using it on upper body only shots or on fully nude characters. That too is a problem, but the tag is still worth keeping.

Yeah, it'd make sense to keep the tags in that case, but in practice you still need to add pants/shorts/whatever to your search if you want to see women wearing a bikini top with normal clothes, due to how polluted bikini top is.

That won't stop people from tagging it on upper body only, but I guess we can try that and see if the tags become salvageable.

I wish this tag was used like this.

i prefer the alias because there are good reasons to keep the tag, like bikini_top shorts or whatever the fuck the female mage (ragnarok online) is wearing
