Qualify Single-Letter Tags Like "A"

Posted under Tags

BUR #7619 has been rejected.

create alias a -> a_(phrase)
create alias v -> v_sign
create alias w -> w_sign
create alias double_v -> double_v_sign
create alias double_w -> double_w_sign

I recently came across a post that warranted the tag "a". But when I checked the tag again, I saw several mistags on the first two pages alone. So I asked around at Discord, and looked like this was suggested by Travley before, but was forgotten. So I think this should be done.

I didn't add "x" because it's a mess, even the wiki doesn't help much.

Edit: If you have a better qualifier for those tags, feel free to suggest them here.

Edit2: Edited the BUR.

I'm a bit more on kittey's side here. If the "A" on any clothing has any specific meaning, like if it's connected to any kind of school or university, it should get its own tag or something else.

Yeah, stuff like that reminds me of people adding ? to posts where any speech bubble has a question. It's pedantic and makes no sense for us. Let "a" be specifically for the letter "a" being used by a character, and nuke the rest.

Why v_(gesture) instead of v_sign or w_sign? As for a, I agree. a_(phrase) should be fine and it should be removed from posts where that does not apply.

Actually "v_sign" and "w_sign" were my alternatives beside the "*_(gesture)". If others prefer it too, I'll change them.

Seconding "v_sign", "w_sign" and "a_(phrase)".

I wish to obliterate the h tag off of so many arts tagged h that doesn't even have h in them...though the more I go through them, the more I think they're honest mis-tags than intentional.
e.g.:

The "H for ecchi", which I thought the tag was for at first, should stay though, IMO. Prolly go for "h_(ecchi)" for this description?
Appropriately H-tagged in this context, e.g.:

Tagging one's initials written on any article (clothing, background, notebook, etc.) would kinda be silly too, in support to what Kittey mentioned, because by that reason everyone else's one-letter initials would be silly-ly tagged as such.
...Oh, apparently we have initial for that? But it looks messy atm, too, often mistakenly used for artist signature.
h-tagged, not Haruhi-related: post #2122806 (apron)
Non-h non-Haruhi, one-letter initial, e.g.:

h tag prolly just became a side-effect of not-even-stylized H being synonymous to its official pictures & title or Haruhi herself. Helipads (H in a circle) deserve that tag more.

Updated

post #1157 isn't the oldest h tag, it was added in 2020. post #484388 is the first instance of h being added that is still there (there is one older, but it was removed).

Anyway, I don't necessarily have an issue with keeping a tag for this sort of emphasis on a letter (though I don't know how useful having a specific H tag is), but it definitely cannot remain as a single-letter tag. That's way too prone to mistags. You're free to remove it from any posts where it looks like there's no reason for it to be there, as in the five ones you linked.
