bow (instrument) and amplifier (instrument) aren't really instruments either. I had no help thinking of this.

I don't see why amplifier needs a qualifier. It was done in topic #17134, I don't follow the reasoning. If most bass amplifiers already look not like guitar amplifiers, why would it be a problem to have hifi amplifiers and such under the tag?
For bow I would prefer bow (music) (which is also what Wikipedia uses, just like with baton (conducting).

As noted above, a bow is not an instrument. Wikipedia uses the same qualifier.
