I think you can realize why we have been moving away from using class names. If it was that easy we wouldn't have this discussion.
She's called by her full name in the original VN, and as far as i know FGO never calls her Saber, so i don't think leaving the tag like this is an option.

Regardless of whatever chaotic mess the Fate series tagging is in, this BUR has little to do with how Jeanne is tagged.

We need to stop letting Fate BURs get derailed and killed because of a strange combination of apathy, hatred, and confusion about the source material.

Discussing this here will not change anything, the best way is to just start a BUR (in a new topic) with what we want. If no one wants to really change anything, it's going to be "saber (fate)" given the votes on this BUR.

Jeanne is the one other Fate character with a billion different variants, so there is some relevance to the way she is tagged in order to figure out how best to handle the Saber. It's one thing to avoid getting bogged down in ceaseless nitpicking and lore nonsense weighing down sensical changes, but it's another to just let whatever Fate BUR through with little regard to how inconsistent and ambiguous the end result would be just for the sake of not letting Fate BURs get derailed and killed.

Changing saber to saber_(fate) is a pointless step (and a horribly ambiguous change all around as mentioned by blindVigil earlier) if we could just change it to something more coherent like artoria_pendragon_(fate/stay_night), which would also be consistent with how other Fate chars with a ton of variants are handled.

No matter what people decide they want her renamed to it inevitably will end up like this shitshow of a thread where a bunch of people decide to come in and complain that "actually this name is bad for X reason" until the BUR is auto-rejected in 45 days. Quite frankly I do not give a single care about any of her lore—"saber" is a horrible tag and should be changed. If you want to argue non-stop about what tag she should get then you should do that in a different thread after her name is disambiguated.
