The current romanization of matsuno_juushimatsu (and juushimatsu's_girlfriend) follows Danbooru's standard, but howto:romanize says "Should there any official romanization exist, they take precedence over this standard." The character's name is canonically romanized as Jyushimatsu in all official art, merch and promotional media I could find (example: a quick Amazon search). Is there any reason not to change the main tag to reflect this?

"Jyu" is a nonstandard romanization of じゅう that hybridizes Nihon-Shiki (zyû) with Modified Hepburn (juu). It also drops the long vowel.
This introduces inconsistency with other character names like Matsuno Matsuzou and Hatabou (both with long o at the end).
That said, I'm not too opposed to this change. Mostly because there's no other character with a "juu", and most other characters don't have long vowels in their names either. But still, if we go forward with this change, I'd prefer Matsuzou and Hatabou to be changed to Matsuzo and Hatabo to maintain consistency. And if there are any future characters with "juu" in their name, this should also be romanized as "jyu" to maintain consistency with Jyushimatsu.

The main thing is that for people who are familiar with the original Japanese names, trying to remember whether Character X has a long vowel indicated while Character Y (from the same copyright and from the same 'organization'/clique) doesn't is extremely annoying and unpredictable.
I'm okay with case-by-case romanization instead of sticking to one rule, but romanziation (for character names) within the same series should stay consistent.
As for Matsuzo in particular, both Tvtropes and Wikipedia spell his name without the added "u". Doing a search for Matsuzo (+ "anime" or "osomatsu") will also turn up many results of people spelling his name without the "u" in various blogs and forum discussions.
Official name takes precedence over our system in all but the most extreme cases (Artoria Pendragon vs Altria). Someone searching for a character using its original name would either use the official romanization or kanji (which we support in the autocomplete), they wouldn't attempt to romanize it themselves.
