Petition to upload longer video, admin request (Usatei PV)

I'm not sure how or if there is a correct way to do this, so I'll just add this here. There is a PV version of the Iosys Usatei Touhou video that slots between the original flash version we have (post #137679), and the much more recent Hololive parody that was uploaded six months ago (post #4373986). It features the original song with melody, art, and lyrics that the Hololive version is parodying, but that don't exist in the original original flash.

I can't seem to find the original on NicoVideo anymore, but it's rehosted here. The 720p version, if downloaded, fits within the 50MB cap, but at roughly 3 minutes, it's too long for non-admins to upload. I know Danbooru isn't intended for anything other than short-format videos if any, but the precedent exists in the flash files and other relations to these existing posts. I think it would make sense for us to include it as a child of post #137679 and parent of post #4373986 for better context of the parody and as an extension of the original.

If any admin wants to use their super-powers to upload it, I think it might be a nice supplement to what we already have.

The "proper" way would be topic #14647 but it's probably not easy to find so this is fine.

After a bit of searching, it feels as though there never was an original on NND - Flowering Night Theater 2011, as in the DVD with the original video, released on the 13th of August, 2011. The first available (re-)upload of it on NND notes in the description that it had been distributed at C80, which matches up time-wise, and is likely the video from which the YouTube reupload is taken from (matching in length).

Hmm, that might be right. I wonder if the Youtuber uploaded from the DVD version then instead of Nico Nico Douga as they indicate, as the aspect ratio on that NND version seems to be off for some reason.

I think they upscaled the video and fixed the aspect ratio. There are obvious resizing artifacts in the YouTube video and even the 1080p version is lower quality than the 480p Niconico version. This is more obvious when comparing still images.

I can never tell with NND, since I don't have premium and the quality they feed you varies with time and location. You could be right, but the aspect ratio was the first thing that jumped out at me.

Yeah looking again there was indeed a noticeable drop in quality in the YouTube version. I took the 480p version from Nico Douga and tried to see what I could do with it in ffmpeg. It seems I could get it to override the aspect ratio without re-encoding it, but that didn't seem to work reliably across applications and browsers, so I just stretched it horizontally to 480p 16:9, and converted it to MP4, and put it here for now if anyone wanted to check to see if it passes muster and wanted to do anything with it. This version is just a bit over 30MB.

Edit: took down this version as it sounds like it would make sense to wait for a better version below.

Perhaps instead of linking this in some obscure location that nobody knows about or will ever check, this could be better highlighted either by stickying the topic, add it to the Help:Upload notice, or add it to the error message users get when they try to upload videos longer than the limit.

Of course, if the goal is not to encourage such posts, then the current status quo probably won't change, but then we are left with something like a repeat of this topic forevermore.

I found a 720p Hi10P encode on thproject.net (sadly the ISO link is dead), the file is 113 MB.
I can reencode it so it is closer to 30 MB. My first try (480p Hi10P) resulted in a 42 MB file which looks better than the other options above. I can probably get very close to 30 MB without noticeable quality loss. 480p would be the original resolution of DVD video, of course a direct encode would be preferable. Would this be acceptable for uploading?

If I'm lucky, I'll be able to get my hands on the original dvd and do the proper rip. No promises atm, but it would be no earlier than mid to end of september. Just FYI.

Ok, ZipFile pulled through, got the DVD, and sent me the ISO last week. Here's as directly ripped a copy I can make while keeping within Danbooru's upload filesize limit, and without a wonky aspect ratio: https://files.catbox.moe/2fzpbd.mp4

As far as I know, this is the only version of the longer video with the sung lyrics, and as such should be the parent of the Hololive parody (also with lyrics) at post #4373986, but its a derivative of the original shorter flash at post #137679, so I left this as a child of that. To my knowledge, there is no SWF form of this publicly available, certainly not on Danbooru.
