Currently we have a bunch of "kiniro*" and "kin-iro*" tags that are supposed to be "kin'iro*" (using our usual romanization rules to distinguish between ん/n + い/i vs に/ni). My gut response was to submit BURs for them but then I noticed that things can be a bit more complicated.
First, the elephant in the room:
Kin-iro Mosaic and its alias can stay as they are because Yen Press uses "Kiniro*" and various wiki articles (like ANN) use "Kin-iro". Kin'iro isn't as common and well known among the Western fanbase.
The others don't have well known romanizations among the West (other than Boorus all inheriting Danbooru's tag name), and as such should probably be changed to "kin'iro" to keep things consistent. And to make the pronunciation more intuitive, as otherwise people have a tendency to mispronounce them as "ki-ni-ro" instead of "kin-i-ro".
(Note that no actual words are currently spelled "ki-ni-ro" in Japanese; as such きにろ is almost certainly a typo.)
There is an added complication however, as some of the 金色 can be "konjiki" (like Konjiki no Yami) instead. (The opposite; konjiki to kon'iro is unlikely to occur, because autotranslators tend to pick "kin'iro"). Also, a lot of website username systems also dislike apostrophes and hyphens, so artist usernames have a tendency to eliminate both and just use "kiniro". As such, things should... *sigh* probably be handled on a case by case basis. Anyway, here they are:
- kiniro_(mushihime-sama)
- Both kiniro and kin'iro are used among the English fanbase.
- I would lean toward using the proper "kin'iro" as tag (old game, not much of an English fanbase), but after checking around, there are some recent(ish) 'indie' game ports released. Notably, Steam uses "kiniro".
- Overall, not so sure about this one.
- kiniroki
- Artist's Twitter ID uses this (as written), so it can stay.
- kiniro_quartet!
- Light novel title. Not very well-known. English fanbase uses both kin'iro and kiniro (haven't seen kin-iro yet).
- Should be changed to kin'iro (but can be done manually).
- kiniro_(ketchup375)
- Artist's old Pixiv display username is キニロ (ki-ni-ro).
- It can stay, but since the artist has updated their username to 伍茶 (with "5tea" written in English in the artist's user icon), perhaps we should update this artist tag and library entry to 5tea_(ketchup375) instead.
- kiniro_yasha
- Artist current Pixiv display username is こんぢき (kon-ji-ki)
- The artist's namesake novel is 金色夜叉, "konjiki yasha".
- As such, I would suggest the artist tag and entry be changed to konjiki_yasha. If the actual novel does pop up (very unlikely), we can use a koniki_yasha_(novel) tag then.
- kinironoki
- Pixiv Stacc ID uses this spelling, can stay.
- kinirokingyo
- Pixiv Stacc ID uses this spelling, can stay.
- Kin-iro Loveriche
- Visual novel. English sources consistently romanize it as "Kin'iro Loveriche".
- Definitely needs to be changed to Kin'iro_Loveriche (but can be done manually).
- The newer localized English versions localizes the title as "Kinkoi: Golden Loveriche".
- An alias may be appropriate if we get enough examples, but currently with only 3 posts this isn't necessary yet.
- Kin-iro no Puu
- Artist currently uses むう "muu" on Nico.
- This is potentially quite ambiguous and likely not as suitable for the artist tag.
- Artist has other names but most of the other accounts are either dead or have less iconic names.
- As such, we can retain 金色のぷー (the old Nico display username) as the ID. But this should be changed to Kin'iro_no_Puu in our tag and library entry.
...Phew. Anyway, if nobody objects to the above, I can proceed with making changes manually and submitting BURs as necessary. Just going to wait a bit to hear your opinions.
Edit: And... *groan*, looks like "giniro*" (銀色) is also going to be a problem. Going leave this for later.
