Matryoshka doll aliasing

Posted under Tags

BUR #5852 has been approved by @evazion.

create alias russian_nesting_doll -> matryoshka_doll
create alias nesting_doll -> matryoshka_doll
create alias babushka_doll -> matryoshka_doll

Reason: Common Synonyms
Russian nesting dolls is what I’ve heard them referred to as and it seems to be a pretty common term as do the other three terms.

I think the tag name should stay as matryoshka_doll because that’s the what the wikipedia article is called, but I could definitely be convinced otherwise.

Edit:BUR used to include

alias stacking_doll -> matryoshka_doll

Updated

I dunno... do we need four aliases for a tag with less than 200 posts? And Stacking_doll might also possibly be confused with dolls that stack on top of one another.

Would agree on just the Russian_nesting_doll alias though. Makes it easier to find, especially for people who aren't aware of the name and would be likely to start typing "Russian_" and hope for an autocomplete suggestion.

I've never heard of dolls that stack on top of each other before, but I've also never heard matryoshka_dolls called "stacking dolls", so I've updated the BUR to remove that alias.

I think the "nesting_doll" implication should be kept because it seems like a common term and it doesn't really disrupt any other tags.

I've never heard the term "babushka_doll" before so unless anyone else has heard that term, I'm fine with removing that from the BUR as well.

Agreed, voting yes.

I've heard people calling things like action figures for those "gattai-fusion" transformable robots "stacking dolls" or "stacked dolls" before. Though it's one of those "call any game console a Nintendo" misuse-of-terminology things that people 'in the scene' (i.e. aware of the distinction) would strongly object to.
